About Treasure DAO
Treasure DAO is a decentralized game publishing ecosystem built around the MAGIC token, aiming to connect games, players, and assets in a unified virtual economy. Its core business includes the Bridgeworld strategy game, the Trove NFT marketplace, and the Magicswap decentralized exchange, all using MAGIC as the common currency. The project's original narrative was to become the 'Web3 Nintendo', providing shared infrastructure and liquidity for independent games.
Market pain points it addresses include asset silos between games and fragmented liquidity. However, the ecosystem has struggled significantly. In 2025, Treasure launched its own zkSync-based Layer 2 chain (Treasure Chain) but shut it down just five months later due to financial pressures. The team also terminated third-party game support, laid off staff, and pivoted focus to AI agents (launching the 'Mage' launchpad). Major games like The Beacon left the ecosystem, and user activity on remaining games like Bridgeworld has dropped sharply.
In the past six months (March to September 2026), no reliable public updates have been confirmed. The project appears to be in a survival mode, with its treasury depleting and the MAGIC token under significant selling pressure. The 'Web3 Nintendo' vision has been largely abandoned, and the current focus is on sustaining operations through AI agent-related experiments, though concrete results remain unverified.
Treasure DAO co-founders include Gaarp (Twitter: @gaarping), Smol Dev (Twitter: @smoldev_), and John Patten (LinkedIn: johntpatten). Gaarp and Smol Dev are co-founders. John Patten founded Treasure as a solo project and grew it to a unicorn-valued gaming ecosystem. Yuri Visser serves as Chief Technology Officer, leading technical strategy and infrastructure. All are currently active in core roles.
