About Pump.Fun
Pump.fun is a memecoin launchpad on Solana that lets anyone create and trade tokens in seconds with zero technical knowledge. Its core mechanism uses a bonding curve: tokens start trading on an internal AMM, and once they reach a market cap threshold, they automatically migrate to PumpSwap for deeper liquidity. The platform's real edge is turning token issuance into an entertainment product—live streaming, task bounties, and social features keep attention flowing, which is the lifeblood of memecoins.
The market pain point it solves is simple: traditional token launches require coding skills, liquidity provision, and marketing budgets, which excludes most retail users. Pump.fun compresses all of that into a one-click process, making it the default destination for speculative attention on Solana. However, the ecosystem is brutally selective—a study covering May-June 2026 found only 0.198% of tokens reached the graduation threshold within 24 hours, down from 0.63% in late 2025.
In the past six months (March-September 2026), Pump.fun crossed $1 billion in cumulative revenue, with daily token creation around 29,700 and daily active wallets near 157,700. But revenue per day has fallen from a peak of $15 million in January 2025 to roughly $1 million recently, and PUMP tokens are down about 76% from their all-time high. The platform also launched Pump.fun GO, a bounty marketplace where token holders pay strangers to perform marketing stunts—but the platform holds full discretion over approvals and payouts, drawing criticism. Earlier, its live-streaming feature was temporarily shut down after users streamed self-harm and dangerous acts, then quietly returned with stricter moderation. Despite the decline in graduation rates and revenue, Pump.fun remains the dominant player, controlling over 99% of token creation on Solana.
Launched in January 2024, it pioneered low-barrier token creation with bonding curves and graduation to Raydium, reshaping the meme coin issuance paradigm. In November 2024, it took down livestreaming due to misconduct and rebuilt moderation, establishing content governance guardrails. In May 2025, it added USDC trading pairs to reduce friction; it then repurchased and burned nearly 15% of supply, initiating token deflation. In September 2025, Project Ascend redirected trading fees to creators with dynamic rates that decline by market cap, converting short-term speculation into sustainable incentives. BOOST mode launched in 2025 injects liquidity into graduated tokens, easing sell pressure. In February 2026, GitHub creator fee sharing connected developer identity to its incentive loop, pushing it toward a content/community platform. In August 2026, it expanded to HyperEVM, its first step beyond Solana, becoming a multi-chain trading gateway. With cumulative revenue exceeding $800 million, it has evolved from a token-launch tool into on-chain entertainment and attention-economy infrastructure.
Positive: Strong revenue—$11.52M in 7 days, $42.3M in 30 days, 4th globally; 50% of net revenue used for buybacks/burns, with cumulative $410M buybacks and 151B tokens burned, including an $850K daily buyback on Aug 18; launched Holder Rewards, automatically airdropping fees to wallets holding qualifying tokens; first golden cross on Aug 18; launched native limit orders and Callout Rewards.
Negative: Sept 12 unlock of 82.5B tokens (8.25% of supply, ~$125M), with 247.5B team/investor tokens still locked and 240B community tokens lacking clear release schedules; buyback ratio cut from 100% to 50% in April, with June buybacks at only $9.2M, down 80% from peak; RICO lawsuit allowed to proceed by the court.
