About Nervos Network
Nervos Network (CKB), a Layer 1 public blockchain, launched its mainnet in November 2019, adopting a PoW consensus and Cell model to extend Bitcoin's UTXO architecture. In November 2023, CKB completed its first halving, reducing annual issuance to 2.1 billion. A pivotal milestone came in 2024 with the RGB++ protocol, which enables Turing-complete smart contracts and asset issuance on Bitcoin via isomorphic UTXO binding, significantly boosting on-chain activity. Key ecosystem developments include the launch of ccBTC (1:1 Bitcoin-backed token) on CKB mainnet, Upbit listing CKB, and partnerships with projects like Cellula (BitCell NFTs), WORLD3 (AI-powered digital assets), and Nervape (DOBs). The ecosystem also saw growth in infrastructure such as the Spore protocol for digital objects and the Bitlight RGB infrastructure project. However, in 2024, Nervos suffered a security breach with approximately $3 million stolen, highlighting challenges in DeFi security. Despite this, the network's focus on Bitcoin interoperability and stateful Layer 2 solutions positions it as a significant player in the BTC L2 landscape.
On August 18, 2026, Nervos released Fiber Studio v1.1.0, enabling atomic Bitcoin Lightning Network swaps from Fiber nodes on the CKB chain, significantly enhancing Bitcoin-CKB interoperability and boosting BTCFi development.
