About Kamino
Kamino advanced institutional infrastructure through a tri-party custody model with Anchorage Digital and Solana Labs, enabling secure SOL staking for institutions.
It launched a fixed-rate credit product in private beta and outlined fixed-rate and term lending to enable genuine interest-rate discovery on Solana.
The protocol also introduced an institutional-grade yield vault starting at 25 million USDC, followed by Coinbase spot trading for its KMNO token.
Positive: Kamino generated $1.84M revenue in Q2 2026, with $1.58M net interest income, maintaining zero bad debt through the Drift exploit and SOL drawdown. Business expanded: the Ethena market hit its $200M borrow cap on day one, deposits exceeded $500M; RWA share rose to 18.8%, with PAXG, AUTO, and oTFY markets launched; Institutional Commodity Yield offers a 7-8% target APY. ZEC collateral lending launched in July.
Negative: KMNO has no value capture: no fee switch, buyback, or dividends; protocol revenue goes to treasury, giving holders no cash flow. Insider 55% tokens are linearly unlocking, with unlocks on Apr 30 and Jun 30 2026, creating pressure until 2027. Business declined: Q2 deposits fell 21.1% QoQ, net withdrawals were $569M, revenue down 10.6% QoQ; July trading volume dropped 20.4% MoM.
On September 15, 2026, Kamino announced the appointment of Michael Weisz as CEO. Weisz is the co-founder of alternative investment platform Yieldstreet (now Willow Wealth), having deployed over $6 billion alongside partners including Goldman Sachs, Carlyle, KKR, and Ares. He will lead Kamino's U.S. expansion, building an institutional team in New York and advancing on-chain credit and RWA market infrastructure. Kamino is the largest credit protocol on Solana with over $650 billion in cumulative transaction volume, and its PRIME market has surpassed $600 million in deposits.
