About Clearpool
Clearpool is a decentralized credit marketplace focused on institutional lending. Its core business is unsecured borrowing and lending, where approved institutions such as market makers and crypto custodians can borrow stablecoins without collateral, while lenders earn yield. The protocol offers two main products: Prime, a permissioned track with KYC for institutional borrowers and lenders, and Credit Vaults, which are revolving credit lines. It also operates the USDX T-Pool on Flare, a tokenized U.S. Treasury product that provides stable, low-risk yield.
Its competitive edge lies in bridging traditional finance and DeFi: it enables creditworthy institutions to access on-chain liquidity without over-collateralization, a common pain point in DeFi lending. The market problem it solves is the inefficiency of traditional credit intermediation and the capital lock-up in collateralized lending. Clearpool mitigates default risk through borrower whitelisting, a 5% insurance reserve, and a resolution auction process.
In the past six months (March to September 2026), Clearpool launched Credit Vaults 2.0 with revolving credit features, expanded its partnership with Ripple to bring institutional lending to the XRP Ledger, and became a masternode validator on the XDC Network. It also integrated support for RLUSD stablecoin and continued to grow its Prime track, which had originated over $328 million across 138 pools by August 2026.
One notable negative event in the past two years: in 2025, a smart contract audit revealed a potential vulnerability in the pool logic, which was promptly patched without loss of funds. This highlights the inherent risks of smart contract-based lending, though no user funds were affected.
Clearpool is developing the Layer 2 network Ozean based on the OP Stack, marking a strategic shift toward proprietary blockchain infrastructure.
It also partnered with Ripple and Cicada to launch the RLUSD institutional credit fund, expanding into institutional-grade credit markets.
Clearpool launched Credit Vaults on Base to deepen DeFi credit product deployment.
Positive: Clearpool announced full migration to XRP Ledger and issuance of new token CLEAR, 1:1 swap for CPOOL; Ripple participates as limited partner in institutional credit fund settled with RLUSD; 50% of protocol fees used to buy back and burn CLEAR, 50% rewards stakers; XRPL native lending standards (XLS-65/66) provide institutional-grade infrastructure, potentially opening untapped institutional credit market.
Negative: CPOOL supply 99% distributed, growth reserves exhausted, limited incentives for old token; total supply increases from 1B to 1.125B at migration, expected 1.428B after three years; migration still subject to community vote, uncertainty.
