About Blur

Blur is an NFT marketplace built for professional traders on Ethereum. Its core business includes zero-fee trading, batch buying and sweeping, a centralized order book with on-chain settlement, and a bidding pool mechanism that encourages users to place near-floor bids. It also offers Blend, a peer-to-peer NFT lending protocol that allows holders to borrow ETH using NFTs as collateral without fixed repayment dates.

The main problem Blur solves is the lack of liquidity and inefficient price discovery in NFT markets. By aggregating listings from multiple platforms and incentivizing bids through rewards, it creates deeper markets and tighter spreads. Its competitive edge lies in speed, data-rich interfaces, and cost efficiency for high-frequency traders.

In the past six months (March to September 2026), Blur has maintained its lead in Ethereum NFT trading volume, though overall market activity remains far below the 2021-2022 peak. The BLUR token has continued to decline, trading around $0.02, down over 99% from its all-time high. Monthly active users are roughly 38,000, significantly lower than OpenSea's 380,000. Blur's Layer 2 network, Blast, has seen adoption but has not reversed the broader NFT downturn. Blend's total loan volume surpassed $6 billion, yet default risks persist during market stress. No major new product launches were confirmed in this period.

Updated: Sep 7, 2026

Blur was founded by Tieshun Roquerre and raised $14 million in March 2022 led by Paradigm, positioned as an NFT marketplace and aggregator for professional traders. It officially launched in October 2022, attracting high-frequency traders with zero fees, batch sweeping, real-time bid pools, and depth charts. In February 2023, the BLUR token airdrop began, rewarding traders, creators, and Care Package holders in Season 1; during the same period, trading volume surpassed OpenSea, making it the NFT market leader. Subsequently, the Blend lending protocol was launched, allowing NFTs as collateral to enhance liquidity; Blur V2 reduced gas costs by about 50% through optimized contracts and introduced trait bidding. In November 2023, the founder launched the Blast L2 network, extending the Blur ecosystem to Layer 2; Blast Mobile TVL reached $30 million. Regarding token circulation, multiple BLUR unlocks were transferred to Coinbase Prime, involving hundreds of millions of tokens, marking key release and liquidity events.
