About Forta Network
Forta Network is a decentralized real-time monitoring layer for public blockchains. Its core business consists of two parts: detection bots (scripts that monitor specific on-chain conditions) and scan nodes (servers that run these bots and publish alerts). The network detects threats such as phishing, rug pulls, and smart contract exploits, generating threat intelligence consumed by wallets, protocols, and exchanges. In 2026, Forta launched Forta Firewall, a transaction screening middleware that simulates and scores transactions before execution using the FORTRESS AI model. High-risk transactions are blocked or delayed via a privacy-preserving timelock, shifting the industry from detection-only to prevention. The core competitiveness lies in its AI model: <50ms analysis time, >99% exploit recall, and a false positive rate below 0.001%. The market pain point is that while most exploit transactions can be detected, they cannot be prevented—Firewall solves this by intercepting malicious transactions before they reach the sequencer. In the past six months (2026-03-12 to 2026-09-12), Firewall went live, integrating with rollups and protocols through RaaS providers, and enabling compliance checks such as OFAC screening. No major negative events were reported in the last two years.
Forta Network was incubated by OpenZeppelin in 2021 and secured investments from a16z, Blockchain Capital and other renowned institutions in July of the same year. In November 2021, the Forta App and Explorer were publicly launched, marking the initial formation of a real-time monitoring network.
In April 2022, Forta launched the Fortification incentive network, attracting over 50 scan nodes and beginning the decentralization process. Subsequently, the FORT token was released and community governance was initiated. Proposal FP-1 passed with over 95% support, officially delegating governance to the Forta Governance Council and achieving a permissionless launch, allowing anyone to acquire FORT tokens and participate in the network.
In November 2024, Forta Firewall was launched, leveraging the FORTRESS AI model to intercept malicious transactions in real-time before execution, with latency under 50 milliseconds and a detection rate exceeding 99%. This expanded the network from a monitoring layer to an active defense layer, marking a significant milestone in blockchain security infrastructure.
Co-founder: Jonathan Alexander, current CTO of OpenZeppelin, former CTO of Vonage (2010-2016) and QASymphony/Tricentis (2016-2020), joined OpenZeppelin in 2020. Information on other co-founders and core executives is not publicly available.
