About Flare Network

Flare Network launched FXRP, its XRP-pegged wrapped token, enabling XRP to participate in DeFi while remaining on the XRP Ledger. This marked a foundational step toward XRPFi. Later, Flare integrated Morpho for modular lending on FXRP, expanding its utility. The network also proposed protocol-level MEV capture and a reduction in FLR inflation from 5% to 3%, aiming to redirect value to token holders. Additionally, Flare burned 66 million FLR (~$1.4M) and saw strong cross-chain bridge inflows, ranking among top three networks. These milestones reflect Flare's long-term strategy to build a data-driven, XRP-centric DeFi ecosystem.

Positive:

FIP.16 passed in April and activated in July, cutting annual inflation from 5% to 3% and lowering the issuance cap to 3 billion, reducing supply.

FIRE was introduced to buy back and burn FLR with network revenue; base transaction fees rose 20x, with fee burns over 10x pre-upgrade levels.

Staked FLR grew from ~11 billion to 21.5 billion, with higher staking weight, strengthening holder benefits.

Negative:

FIRE's actual revenue is tiny (~$31k), far below annual issuance, limiting supply reduction.

Some FIP.16 components are not fully live; FIRE treasury is not deployed on-chain, lagging implementation.

Higher fees may raise user costs, and on-chain revenue remains low, indicating limited network activity.
