About Curve
Curve Finance, launched in January 2020, introduced the StableSwap AMM formula for efficient stablecoin trading. In August 2020, the CRV token and DAO were deployed, with veCRV governance enabling gauge-based emission control. The 2021 launch of Curve v2 extended to volatile assets. In 2023, the native stablecoin crvUSD introduced the LLAMMA soft-liquidation mechanism, avoiding hard liquidations. A major exploit in July 2023 ($62M) stemmed from a Vyper compiler reentrancy bug, leading to partial recovery and a commitment to reimburse affected users. In 2024, LlamaLend and scrvUSD expanded the lending ecosystem. Security incidents in 2025 included DNS hijacking of curve.fi and a brief X account takeover, prompting a potential permanent move to curve.finance. The community also proposed shutting down Elixir market gauges, reflecting governance over token emissions. These milestones highlight Curve's evolution from a stablecoin DEX to a multi-product DeFi hub, while navigating security and governance challenges.
Positive: CRV annual emissions fell below 100M for the first time (~97.2M), easing supply pressure; veCRV holders kept earning protocol fees, with DEX TVL up 6.3% to $1.45B; crvUSD peg held stable, borrower-minted supply surged 97% to $72.2M, showing strong demand; Llamalend V2 expanded with a new svZCHF/crvUSD market; yRisk governance passed with 537M veCRV. Negative: 704 soft liquidations (476 in H1 2026) caused borrower losses during market downturns; only 51.4% of tokens circulate, leaving dilution overhang.
