About Boundless
Boundless is a decentralized verifiable compute layer built on RISC Zero's zkVM, operating as an open marketplace for zero-knowledge (ZK) proof generation. Developers submit proof requests, and prover nodes compete to fulfill them via a reverse Dutch auction, with delivery secured by aggregated proofs and Proof of Verifiable Work (PoVW). Its core value proposition is turning expensive computation into cheap verification: instead of every node re-executing transactions, one party computes and others verify cryptographically, reducing cost and latency while maintaining trust.
The market pain point it addresses is blockchain's structural ceiling—networks are designed for state consensus, not high-throughput computation. Gas limits reject complex workloads, redundant execution wastes resources, and sharding fragments liquidity. Boundless abstracts proofs as tradable compute, unifying storage proofs, computation proofs, and coprocessors into one supply-demand chain, aiming to close ZK adoption's "last mile."
In the past six months (2026-03-01 to 2026-09-01), Boundless announced entry into AI inference, leveraging its distributed GPU network to handle AI workloads at up to 50% lower cost than hyperscale clouds in initial benchmarks, targeting asynchronous processing tasks.
