About AltLayer
AltLayer began as rollups-as-a-service, letting teams deploy app-specific rollups without code on OP Stack, Arbitrum Orbit, ZK Stack and Polygon CDK while borrowing Ethereum's economic security through restaking. At the centre are three on-demand validated services: VITAL checks state correctness, MACH provides fast finality and SQUAD handles decentralised sequencing; ephemeral rollups can settle to the base layer and be discarded after an event, avoiding long-term upkeep.
The line-up has since extended toward the agent economy: 8004scan registers and ranks agents under the ERC-8004 standard, AltLLM offers one interface across models, and AltClaw connects large models to DeFi protocols over a private RPC, alongside an x402 payments suite. Against RaaS peers such as Conduit and Caldera, it bets on the combination of restaked security and agent infrastructure; growth in agent registrations does not track demand for rollup deployments, and the two lines share few customers.
AltLayer, positioned as an execution and elastic scaling layer for blockchains, has achieved several milestones with long-term significance. In January 2024, the ALT token was officially launched, marking the beginning of its ecosystem economy. Later, AltLayer introduced Wizard, an AVS-as-a-Service platform, enabling developers to deploy and manage Actively Validated Services more efficiently. A significant recognition came when the Eigen Foundation granted 1 million EIGEN tokens to AltLayer, acknowledging its contributions to the EigenLayer ecosystem. AltLayer also partnered with Starknet to support the deployment of SN Rollup, expanding its rollup solutions. Additionally, it proposed a stateless Rollup client design, aiming to improve scalability and decentralization. The completion of a 200 million ALT cross-chain swap further enhanced token liquidity and interoperability. These events underscore AltLayer's role in advancing rollup technology and restaking infrastructure.
Unlocks and supply: 240.8 million ALT worth about $1.37 million unlocked on August 25, with linear monthly releases of roughly 3.5% of float continuing through 2027; about 31% of the 10 billion total supply is still locked.
Progress and gaps: AltLayer shipped AltLLM, AltClaw and the ERC-8004 agent registry 8004scan, which listed over 325,000 agents by June, and partnered with Internet Court on July 10. There is no buyback, burn or fee-sharing mechanism, and none of the AI product revenue accrues to ALT holders.
In January 2026 AltLayer achieved ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certification, with its information security management system covering operations and customer support processes. On February 10, 8004scan went live on mainnet, turning AI agent identity, reputation and verification into on-chain primitives and nearing 10,000 registered agents at launch; by early July the platform showed registered agents, feedback submissions and active users in the hundreds of thousands. Rollups remain the base business, with MACH fast finality, Cyber, Soneium AVS, B2 Network, Swell and OpenLedger deployments and integrations listed on its July dashboard. Competition is not loose: similar rollup-as-a-service tools and the rollup frameworks bundled with layer 1s keep squeezing differentiation, and whether customers keep paying for fast finality and agent infrastructure says more than deployment counts. Token pressure is clear, with about 722.4 million ALT scheduled for release from October to December, close to a 10% increase in circulating supply, and investor unlocks ending in December.
AltLayer's Future strategy and roadmap: make agent identity and payments a second growth curve alongside rollups, and keep expanding the developer base for 8004scan and AltAI.
