About Aerodrome

Aerodrome launched in August 2023 as a fork of Velodrome on Base, inheriting the ve(3,3) design. Its initial significance lay in establishing a liquidity hub for the emerging Base ecosystem.

In 2024, Aerodrome introduced the AERO Fed, a decentralized mechanism to dynamically adjust token emission rates based on market conditions. This governance innovation allowed the community to manage inflation flexibly, marking a shift toward adaptive monetary policy.

A major milestone came when Base surpassed Ethereum and BNB Chain in DEX trading volume for the first time, driven significantly by Aerodrome's activity. This validated the protocol's role in bootstrapping Base's liquidity and cemented its position as a top-tier DEX.

The platform also pioneered Predictive Allocation, replacing retrospective voting with forward-looking, market-aware reward distribution. This mechanism, inspired by prediction markets, directs liquidity to where it is likely needed next, representing a fundamental evolution in DEX incentive design.

Aerodrome expanded into token launchpad services with Aero Launch, broadening its utility beyond trading and liquidity provision.

In late 2024, the project faced a significant security challenge when its centralized domains (.finance and .box) were hijacked, leading to approximately $700,000 in user losses. The team responded by urging users to use ENS mirrors, confirming smart contracts remained secure, and formulating a compensation plan. This incident highlighted the importance of decentralized infrastructure.

Binance listed AERO with a seed tag, increasing accessibility and market recognition. Throughout its history, Aerodrome has consistently executed large-scale buybacks and locks, with nearly 200M AERO accumulated through various programs, demonstrating a long-term commitment to protocol value.
