The suspect in the Coinbase hack has over 10,000 customer data on their phone

ChainCatcher news, court documents have revealed more details about the Coinbase data breach case. The lawsuit documents show that Ashita Mishra, an employee at TaskUs (Coinbase's outsourced customer service company) in Indore, India, began stealing sensitive customer information, including social security numbers and bank account details, starting in September 2024, and sold the information to hackers for $200 per photo to impersonate Coinbase employees and scam users.

Mishra had over 10,000 customer data stored on her phone, and she could secretly take up to 200 photos of account information daily. This breach has affected more than 69,000 customers and is expected to cost Coinbase up to $400 million.
