About MANTRA
MANTRA's key milestones include the mainnet launch of its RWA-focused Layer 1 blockchain, which established its position in the tokenized real-world assets sector. The project secured a VASP license from Dubai's VARA, a significant regulatory achievement for compliant RWA infrastructure.
In March 2025, MANTRA executed a major token upgrade, rebranding OM to MANTRA with a 1:4 token split and denomination change from 6 to 18 decimals, accompanied by Binance's support for the swap and brand upgrade. This was followed by the deprecation of all ERC20 versions of OM in January 2025, consolidating the token onto the native chain.
The project faced significant challenges, including layoffs in May 2025 to address market conditions. In August 2026, MANTRA experienced a critical security incident where an attacker exploited an unsigned-integer underflow vulnerability in the cosmos/evm dependency, moving approximately 720.9 million MANTRA tokens. The chain was halted for 30 hours before a coordinated validator restart on a patched release. While no customer accounts were debited, the incident increased circulating supply and highlighted the importance of robust security measures for L1 infrastructure.
On 20 August 2026, MANTRA Chain suffered an exploit via an unsigned-integer underflow in the cosmos/evm module, draining 720.9 million MANTRA (~$3.6M). The chain halted for 30+ hours, deposits/withdrawals paused, and OM token price dropped ~18.5% during the outage. No recovery as of 28 August; ~37.96M MANTRA immobilised in attacker address. This was the sole major price-affecting event in the period.
