About ssv.network
SSV Network is a decentralized staking infrastructure built on Distributed Validator Technology (DVT). Its core business splits validator keys across multiple non-trusting nodes, allowing Ethereum staking to run without a single point of failure. The main pain point it addresses is the centralization risk in staking—traditional staking pools often concentrate control in one operator, creating security and censorship vulnerabilities. SSV solves this by enabling permissionless operator networks where anyone can run a node and stakers can choose from 200+ independent operators.
The core narrative is "active-active" fault tolerance: even if one node fails or acts maliciously, the validator keeps running. This makes staking more resilient and aligns with Ethereum's decentralization ethos. In the past six months (2026-03-01 to 2026-09-01), SSV launched its staking testnet, allowing users to experience the full staking lifecycle before mainnet deployment. The network secured approximately 7.4 million ETH, and the team introduced an incentive program for Alpha testers to provide feedback. They also expanded integrations with liquid staking protocols and restaking platforms like EigenLayer, enabling distributed native restaking.
One notable limitation in the last two years: the protocol's cluster management can be complex for average users, requiring technical understanding of operator selection and key management. Additionally, the reliance on oracles for effective balance reporting introduces a trust assumption, though mitigations are being developed. Overall, SSV is positioning itself as the neutral infrastructure layer for Ethereum staking, reducing single-operator risks while maintaining full user control.
SSV Network, a decentralized staking infrastructure, has progressed through key milestones. In 2021, the first testnet launched, followed by the incentivized Primus testnet in early 2022. After the Ethereum merge, SSV 2.0 was introduced, proposing bApps (based applications) to extend validator security. Major developments include the deployment of Lido's Simple DVT module supported by SSV, surpassing 800,000 ETH staked (~$2.8B), and the DAO restructuring into SSV Labs. The network also adjusted funding strategies, including a $6M SSV technical upgrade proposal and a new community alliance program. Over 22,000 validators received 12,936 SSV in a recent incentive round, reflecting growing adoption.
