About Bedrock
Bedrock is a multi-asset liquid restaking protocol that allows users to stake BTC, ETH, and IOTX while maintaining liquidity. Its core products include uniBTC, brBTC, and uniETH, which issue liquid tokens representing staked assets. These tokens can be used across DeFi applications to generate additional yield.
The protocol's main competitive edge lies in its multi-asset support and deep integration with Babylon and EigenLayer. For Bitcoin, Bedrock enables BTC holders to earn yields through restaking without giving up liquidity, addressing the pain point of idle BTC. For ETH holders, it provides access to EigenLayer restaking rewards. The protocol also supports DePIN assets like IOTX, broadening its appeal.
In the past six months (March to September 2026), Bedrock has expanded its brBTC product to support multiple BTC derivatives (WBTC, FBTC, BTCB, uniBTC) and integrated with additional restaking platforms like Kernel and Symbiotic. The protocol's TVL reached approximately $470 million, with uniBTC staking growing steadily. BR, the governance token, saw significant price appreciation in late March 2026, reflecting renewed market interest in the BTCFi narrative.
However, the protocol faces risks including smart contract vulnerabilities, dependence on external protocols (Babylon, EigenLayer), and the early-stage nature of the BTC restaking market. The security of cross-chain bridges and the sustainability of restaking yields remain key concerns.
Launched by RockX in March 2023, Bedrock started with uniETH for Ethereum liquid staking, then expanded into restaking and Bitcoin staking via EigenLayer and Babylon, introducing uniBTC. In September 2024, the uniBTC incident led to the adoption of Chainlink Secure Mint and Proof of Reserve, strenghening reserve verification. From late 2024 to 2025, the protocol pivoted to BTCFi 2.0 multi-asset liquid restaking, launching brBTC and holding the BR token TGE in March 2025, establishing the BR/veBR governance framework. In 2026, multichain expansion to Solana was completed, uniBTC went live, and TVL reached $470M.
More recently, BR experienced severe price volatility as 26 addresses withdrew about $47.9 million in liquidity within 100 seconds, sparking debates over whae influence, governance transparency, and market manipulation risks. The project subsequently clarified its LP addresses and promised compensation, highligtning that governance and transparency remain key long-term isues for DeFi.
Chen Zhuling is the CEO of Bedrock. He also serves as the co-founder and CEO of RockX. Previously, he co-founded aelf in 2017 and served as COO. He holds a Master's degree in Manufacturing Engineering from MIT and a Bachelor's degree in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering from Nanyang Technological University. Before entering the blockchain industry, he worked as a Senior Consultant at Roland Berger and held positions at Infineon Technologies and Medtronic.
