About WAX
WAX began as a project in 2017 and launched its mainnet in 2019 after migrating from EOSIO to a dedicated chain optimized for NFTs and trading. In 2020, the introduction of the AtomicAssets NFT standard became a foundational milestone, enabling flexible, efficient NFT creation and trading that later became the ecosystem's core infrastructure. In 2021, WAX launched WAX RNG, a verifiable on-chain random number service, which provided a reliable foundation for gaming and NFT blind-box mechanics. A subsequent major direction was the decentralization of core infrastructure: the RNG service was open-sourced, bridge nodes were opened to third-party operators, and Cloud Wallet moved transaction signing to the client side, aligning with modern wallet architecture. These changes were designed to reduce centralized dependencies and strengthen long-term ecosystem resilience. In 2024, WAX adjusted block producer and guild reward structures to concentrate resources among fewer infrastructure providers, ensuring sustained operation of public APIs and history nodes. Throughout this period, WAX maintained its position as one of the most active NFT chains by transaction volume, with its evolution marked by a consistent focus on scalable, decentralized infrastructure rather than short-term features.
Positive factors: In March 2026, WAX introduced a usage-based deflationary token burn mechanism, replacing the inflationary model, which drove WAXP up 30% in a day. In June, OKX listed WAXP in Singapore, improving liquidity. In July, the n8n-wax-kit was launched for no-code integrations. Around the same time, WAX removed the $5 cloud wallet creation fee to lower entry barriers. In September, it announced AtomicAssets v2, featuring mutable template fields, deletable empty templates, flexible RAM payers, and protocol-enforced royalty splits, benefiting the NFT ecosystem. No major negative factors emerged in the period.
