About Loot
Loot (for Adventurers) is an on-chain randomized adventurer gear NFT project released in 2021, with 8,000 “bags” in total. Each bag contains only eight equipment names, with no official stats, images, or gameplay. It is not run by a single company; rather, it forms the Lootverse around open assets, where the community freely builds derivatives such as More Loot, Synthetic Loot, Realms, Genesis Loot, Banners, and Crypts & Caverns. Its core narrative is an “autonomous world” with no official canon and full community construction. This addresses the pain point of traditional NFT/game projects being defined by centralized teams, closed IP, and non-composable assets, allowing any holder or developer to create and interoperate using the same on-chain metadata. In the past six months (2026-03-04 to 2026-09-04), no verifiable major version updates or new official ecosystem milestones were found; public information still mainly consists of existing derivative projects and the community-run website/docs. Overall, Loot is more of an open protocol and cultural symbol than a product with a clear operating entity.
In August 2021, dom released Loot, an 8,000-bag text NFT that introduced a bottom-up model for building an open world. The community quickly established forums, LIP governance, and the Loot Alliance, turning Loot into "on-chain scaffolding" for a composable universe. In April 2022, Timshel's Loot Deck defined it as a massively-multiplayer collaborative world-building experiment. Meanwhile, The Genesis Scrolls launched with OpenQuill funding community writing, weaving the item lists into collective lore and forming the LDK (narrative engine).
Bibliotheca DAO later migrated Realms to Starknet and built the Dojo engine, advancing fully on-chain games. Titles like Loot Survivor and Realms: Eternum embodied the idea of "eternal games" and autonomous worlds. Despite a boom-and-bust cycle—from ~300 derivatives down to a handful—the ecosystem reconsolidated around game infrastructure, becoming a cornerstone of the autonomous world movement.
Founder: Dom Hofmann (Twitter: @dhof). He is a co-founder of Vine and previously created Blitmap, Supdrive, and other NFT/crypto projects. In August 2021, he launched Loot, aiming to build a decentralized Lootverse.
No reliable public information on other co-founders or current core executives was found.
