About Jambo

Jambo is a blockchain-based mobile network focused on emerging markets. Its core product, JamboPhone, is an affordable Android smartphone with a built-in multi-chain wallet, a crypto-native app store, and simplified onboarding, allowing users to access Web3 services without technical knowledge. The project's narrative centers on lowering entry barriers: users can participate in decentralized finance (DeFi), earn token rewards through quests, and conduct low-cost cross-border transactions directly from their phones.

The main market pain point is financial exclusion. Many people in Africa, Southeast Asia, and Latin America lack access to traditional banking, while conventional smartphones restrict Web3 usage through app store policies and high fees. Jambo addresses this by combining hardware, software, and a token ecosystem (J) into a single accessible package.

Regarding recent developments (2026-02-28 to 2026-08-31), available information is limited. The official website and whitepaper describe planned features such as staking, payment discounts, and loyalty mechanics, but these are not yet live. The Jarvis product page remains an announcement without a shipped product. On-chain data shows low liquidity and high token concentration, and user reviews mention difficulties with withdrawal thresholds and fees. No major verified milestones were found within this period.

Founded in 2021 by James Zhang, Jambo began building a Web3 mobile ecosystem for emerging markets. In 2022, it secured a $30M Series A led by Paradigm, marking a key milestone for crypto-native infrastructure in Africa and Southeast Asia. The launch of JamboPhone in 2023, a $99 device pre-loaded with dApps, drove rapid adoption, surpassing 650,000 units sold across 128 countries and creating over 4.5 million blockchain wallets. In January 2025, Jambo launched its native token $J on Solana with a total supply of 1 billion, followed by an airdrop of 100 million J tokens to core users and Solana community members. These steps—from hardware distribution to token launch and community incentives—represent strategic pivots toward a self-sustaining on-chain mobile network, positioning Jambo as a significant player in bridging the next billion users to Web3.
