About Fluid
Fluid is a unified liquidity layer for decentralized finance (DeFi), designed to consolidate fragmented liquidity across lending, borrowing, and trading into a single, efficient pool. Its core products include Lend (deposit to earn yield), Vault (borrow with up to 95% loan-to-value and minimal liquidation penalties), DEX (trading with smart collateral and smart debt features), and the underlying Liquidity Layer that powers all of them.
The main pain point Fluid addresses is capital inefficiency and liquidity fragmentation in traditional DeFi. By pooling liquidity, it enables higher capital utilization, lower slippage, and more competitive rates. Its key narrative is "one layer, all liquidity," positioning itself as the base infrastructure for DeFi applications.
In the past six months (March to September 2026), Fluid faced a significant challenge: a third-party incident involving Resolv's infrastructure led to approximately $10 million in bad debt. However, the DAO treasury covered the shortfall, and no user funds were lost. Despite this, Fluid continued to grow: it launched Liquidity-as-a-Service (LaaS), enabling institutions to bootstrap liquidity efficiently; onboarded Bitwise as a risk curator; and expanded to Solana, with a DEX v2 expected to launch soon. The protocol also improved its oracle system to better handle extreme market conditions.
Fluid was founded by the Instadapp team in 2018 and officially launched its unified liquidity layer protocol in 2024, integrating lending and trading. With zero funds lost in two years, it introduced Smart Collateral and Smart Debt, offering up to 95% LTV and a minimum liquidation penalty of 0.1%, making it the most capital-efficient DeFi infrastructure.
In October 2025, it launched the Fluid Reserve, directing 100% of Ethereum mainnet revenue to FLUID buybacks, creating a growth flywheel. In H1 2026, it reached $3.6B in market size, $1.6B in active loans, and $18.1B in trading volume, ranking #4 among lending protocols and #2 DEX on Ethereum. Solana accounted for roughly half of TVL, with Jupiter Lend making it the second-largest lending protocol on Solana.
Institutionally, it launched Curation Markets with Bitwise as the first institutional curator, attracting $500M in deposits within two months. LaaS (Liquidity-as-a-Service) secured over $100M in commitments, providing efficient liquidity for RWA and stablecoin issuers. Fixed-rate borrowing, DEX v2, and cross-chain expansion (e.g., Sui) will drive it to become a full-chain liquidity layer.
