About Deribit

Founded in 2016, Deribit established itself as a specialized crypto options and futures exchange, capturing over 85% of global BTC and ETH options market share through its institutional-grade infrastructure (LD4 colocation, portfolio margin, multicast data).

A significant milestone came with the launch of TRX options, marking the exchange's expansion beyond BTC and ETH into alternative crypto assets, broadening its derivatives product suite.

In 2025, Deribit recorded a historic 24-hour trading volume exceeding $22.8 billion, reflecting peak market participation and its dominant position in crypto derivatives.

A pivotal structural shift occurred when BlackRock's IBIT options surpassed Deribit in open interest, approaching $38 billion, signaling the rise of US-regulated, cash-settled venues and challenging Deribit's offshore dominance. This marked the beginning of a competitive landscape where onshore products increasingly influence global volatility pricing.
