About Cartesi
Cartesi is a rollup framework for verifiable execution of general-purpose programs, built on compiling a Linux runtime to RISC-V and settling execution traces through on-chain contracts. Developers write in familiar languages and libraries, heavy computation runs off-chain, and only state fragments are posted when a dispute arises, with the Dave fraud-proof system comparing them segment by segment on Ethereum to decide which party lied and punish it. CTSI is used for staking and proving fees, the Noether side chain carries data availability, and applications can therefore run a full operating system rather than constrained contract bytecode.
Applications must first be compiled to a RISC-V target, computation runs off-chain, and only disputes return to Ethereum mainnet round by round, where the time and gas cost of arbitration grow with dispute depth. On-chain activity centres on a small set of DeFi and AI inference projects.
Technical progress: Rollups Contracts v3 moved toward mainnet on May 8, with emergency withdrawals in alpha on devnet. On August 21 the team shipped Machine Emulator v0.21.0 and Contracts 3.0.0-alpha.9, rewriting the fraud-proof documentation and adding CLI support for independent disputes.
Market: CTSI broke a descending channel on August 6, gaining 56% in a session to $0.0336. It had set an all-time low of $0.0203 on July 28; by early October market cap was about $29 million on 952 million tokens circulating.
In 2026, Cartesi kept advancing its optimistic rollup and RISC-V virtual-machine ecosystem. On May 8, 2026, Cartesi released Rollups Contracts v3, refining the contract interfaces and composability of its rollup framework. In May, the team launched AI developer tools such as Cartesi Skills to help developers build agent apps in the Cartesi environment. On August 21, 2026, Machine Emulator v0.21.0 shipped, improving performance and compatibility of its no-OS compute environment. On May 28, Binance listed CTR perpetuals.
Future strategy and roadmap: Cartesi plans to deepen the combination of Cartesi Skills with AI agents, extend its RISC-V compute layer's support for more programming languages and frameworks, and promote optimistic rollup deployment beyond mainnet across more scenarios, aiming to let developers build verifiable decentralized apps with a traditional programming experience.
