About Bitkub
Founded in 2018, Bitkub quickly became Thailand's largest cryptocurrency exchange. In May 2021, it suffered a major cyberattack resulting in approximately $50 million in losses across 16 digital assets, which the Thai SEC later alleged was inadequately disclosed. The exchange compensated affected users by October of that year. In 2022, it expanded its token offerings by listing TRON-based tokens JST and SUN. A strategic partnership with Tencent Cloud in 2025 aimed to enhance its infrastructure with database, AI, and risk management technologies. Bitkub has also been exploring a potential IPO in Hong Kong, signaling its ambition for international expansion. These milestones highlight its growth from a local market leader to a player with regional aspirations, marked by both challenges and strategic advancements.
