About Avail
Avail is a modular blockchain project developed by Polygon that separates data availability from execution to address the fragmentation problem in the rollup ecosystem. Its core business consists of three layers: Avail DA provides scalable and verifiable data storage for rollups; Avail Nexus unifies cross-chain interoperability, allowing assets and liquidity to flow freely between different chains; Avail Fusion enhances network security through multi-asset staking. The main market pain points it solves are: high data availability costs for rollups, liquidity fragmentation across chains, and poor user experience due to complex bridging. In the past six months (2026-02-28 to 2026-08-29), Avail launched the Nexus mainnet, enabling developers to integrate cross-chain functionality via SDK. The ecosystem has seen integrations with DeFi, SocialFi, AI, and cross-chain infrastructure projects, including Lens Protocol, Sophon, TRON, and others. These integrations have unlocked use cases such as unified collateral management, intent-based trading across multiple liquidity venues, and multi-chain liquidity aggregation. However, the project still faces challenges in attracting a critical mass of rollup adopters and competing with other modular blockchain solutions.
Avail, the modular blockchain developed by Polygon, has progressed through several pivotal milestones. In March 2024, it secured a $43 million Series A round co-led by Dragonfly and Cyber Fund, underscoring institutional confidence. On July 23, 2024, Avail launched its mainnet, introducing the Avail DA layer and the native AVAIL token, with liquid staking available from day one. This marked its transition from testnet to production. Shortly after, Avail partnered with Symbiotic to build a unified Web3 innovation framework, extending its ecosystem beyond data availability. The project also gained market traction through listings on Binance Alpha and Bitget Onchain Trading. Notably, Avail's positioning in the evolving "DA competition" highlights its differentiated approach—combining data availability with interoperability and shared security, aiming to become a comprehensive modular layer rather than a single-purpose DA solution.
Anurag Arjun (Founder): Co-founder of Polygon, previously led product and technology at Polygon. He is the founder of Avail, focusing on modular blockchain and data availability.
Prabal Banerjee (Co-founder): Former researcher at Polygon, with a PhD in Cryptology and Security from Indian Statistical Institute. He leads research and engineering at Avail, specializing in blockchain data availability and modular architectures.
Avail (a modular blockchain developed by Polygon, focused on data availability) has recently seen team changes: no new members, but two core members departed.
Head of Engineering Jakub Cech left in March 2026 (joined February 2023); Rishi Tripathi of the Founder's Office left in August 2026 (joined September 2023), who previously worked on Polygon ecosystem business development. This may bring uncertainty to Avail's technical management and ecosystem partnerships.
