Organization: Third Quarter DRAM "Super Cycle," revenue approaching 200 billion USD
According to the latest global storage market tracking report for the third quarter of 2026 released by market research firm Counterpoint Research, driven by strong demand for AI accelerators and data centers, as well as rising prices, DRAM revenue in the third quarter of 2026 increased nearly fivefold year-on-year.
The agency stated that the current market is in a price-driven super cycle rather than a shipment-driven cycle. This quarter, DRAM bit shipments grew by only about 4%, but market revenue has approached $200 billion, approximately five times that of the same period last year.
The report noted that AI has transformed storage from a commodity into a scarce high-value resource, with buyers now competing for supply assurance rather than repeatedly negotiating on price. With prices continuing to rise, suppliers are expected to set new profit records in the next quarter.
