According to CNN, on the eve of the U.S. midterm elections, the Democratic Party is close to regaining a majority in the Senate, but several key seats remain in a deadlock, and deep red states could tilt toward either party.

CNN has expanded its list of "most likely to flip" to 11 seats, adding South Carolina, Texas, Kansas, and other battlegrounds that were almost overlooked earlier this year. The Democrats need to flip 4 Republican-held seats and hold all their own seats to secure a Senate majority.

Reports indicate that CNN's poll aggregation shows Trump's approval rating at about 34%, with issues like the economy, the Iran war, and corruption driving Democratic mobilization.

In the final month, Republicans spent about $560 million on election ads in the aforementioned 11 races, while Democrats spent about $521 million; excluding Georgia and North Carolina, the Republican advantage is even greater.

The top-ranked races include: North Carolina Democrat Roy Cooper leading Republican Michael Whatley by about 14 percentage points in the High Point/YouGov final poll, listed as the most likely to flip seat; former Ohio Senator Sherrod Brown averaging a lead of about 5 percentage points; Texas's James Talarico facing Ken Paxton, with CNN's aggregation showing no clear leader, but recent New York Times/Siena and CNN polls indicate Talarico is ahead, with Musk-related spending accounting for over $168 million of Republican ads in the state. The remaining list includes Maine, Alaska, Kansas, Iowa, Michigan, New Hampshire, South Carolina, and Georgia.
