Argentine state-owned energy giant YPF is considering accepting cryptocurrency for fuel payments

According to Cointelegraph, Argentina's state-owned energy company YPF is considering allowing drivers to pay for gasoline and diesel with cryptocurrency.
Insiders say that the plan may rely on third-party processing agencies rather than direct wallet payments, with local and international platforms such as Lemon, Ripio, or Binance responsible for handling currency exchange. If the system is adopted, its operation will be similar to YPF's existing dollar purchase method. Customers will need to scan a QR code to transfer funds to YPF's account at Banco Santander, and the application will display the corresponding peso amount, along with a reference exchange rate determined by the buying price from Banco Nación.
