According to Caixin, Qian Zhimin, the main suspect in the laundering case involving 60,000 BTC, was sentenced to 11 years and 8 months in prison on Tuesday at the Royal Court of Southwark in the UK. Since Qian Zhimin has been in custody for about 18 months since April 23, 2024, this period will be directly deducted from her total sentence.

According to the UK's "half-automatic release" rule, ordinary offenders with fixed sentences can transition to community supervision after serving half of their sentence. Based on this calculation, she is expected to be released in late February 2030.

In addition, Qian Zhimin will also be subject to a Serious Crime Prevention Order (SCPO) for 5 years, effective upon her release. Analysts point out that while Qian Zhimin's sentencing marks the end of the criminal aspect of the case, the truly complex issue of how to dispose of the 60,000 bitcoins has only just begun.
