JPMorgan President: Discrepancies in Stablecoin Regulatory Policies Worldwide Will Limit Cross-Border Payment Applications
Nov 03, 2025 18:27:51
According to Ming Pao, JPMorgan President Daniel Pinto stated at the "Hong Kong Female CEO Summit 2025" that if the regulatory policies for stablecoins around the world are not unified, it will limit their practical applications in cross-border small payments. He believes that regulatory agencies should embrace new technologies and develop regulations for their additional risks, rather than completely reshaping the system.
Franklin Templeton President Jenny Johnson pointed out that as long as companies understand the rules, they can develop their business accordingly. She cited tokenization as an example, stating that Hong Kong could adopt principle-based regulation in formulating specific rules, focusing on the core principle of "whether customers are treated fairly."
Former HKEX Chairman Laura Cha stated that the Hong Kong Monetary Authority's proactive approach to stablecoin regulation is the right direction, and regulatory authorities should establish a clear and transparent framework.
