ChainCatcher news, according to Crypto Briefing, a retired resident of North Carolina, Brandon LaRoque, had his Ellipal hardware wallet compromised, resulting in a loss of 1.2 million XRP, worth over 3 million dollars.
It is reported that the attack occurred on October 12, where the attacker first conducted two small test transfers of 10 XRP each, and then transferred approximately 1.29 million XRP to a newly created wallet, which was quickly dispersed to about 30 different wallets. Blockchain analyst ZachXBT discovered that the stolen funds were used to create over 120 cross-chain bridge transactions of XRP to Tron through Bridgers, ultimately being laundered via over-the-counter trades linked to the illegal market Huione in Southeast Asia. The victim stated that this was all of his retirement savings accumulated over eight years.
