The U.S. government will hold a total of 324,000 BTC after confiscating 127,000 BTC from the Cambodian Prince Group's Chen Zhi

ChainCatcher news, the U.S. government plans to confiscate 127,271 BTC held by Chen Zhi of the Cambodian Prince Group, worth approximately $14.1 billion. With the previously held Bitcoin, the total BTC holdings of the U.S. government will reach 324,000 coins, valued at about $36.2 billion, making it the largest entity holding BTC.

According to case documents, the BTC planned for confiscation is distributed across 25 addresses. These addresses are marked as owned by the LuBian mining pool on the Arkham platform and were stolen in 2020. In July 2024, these BTC underwent a consolidation transfer, during which the LuBian mining pool publicly requested their return on-chain. According to case documents, these BTC are currently under the control of the U.S. government.
