The once idealistic discussions about blockchain democracy, universal basic income (UBI), and an open internet are now dominated by finance and meme coins.

In response, Vitalik Buterin stated that many idealistic open internet projects have made significant progress, such as Farcaster, Lens, quadratic funding, retroactive funding, Zupass, privacy-preserving ETH sending methods, and ZK voting implementations.
