About Stargate Finance
Stargate Finance is a cross-chain liquidity protocol built on LayerZero, designed to move native assets—not wrapped tokens—directly between 80+ blockchains. Its core business is simple: users can swap stablecoins or major assets across chains in one transaction, while developers can integrate its unified liquidity pools to build cross-chain DeFi apps.
Its main competitive edge is the unified liquidity pool model. Traditional bridges require separate pools on each chain, causing fragmentation and high costs. Stargate uses a single pool per asset across all chains, achieving instant finality and near-zero slippage for large transfers. This makes it a key piece of cross-chain infrastructure.
The problem it solves is the inefficiency of existing bridges: slow confirmations, wrapped-asset risks, and fragmented liquidity. By enabling native asset transfers with one transaction, it reduces complexity and risk for users and developers alike.
In the past six months (Feb–Aug 2026), Stargate expanded support to more chains, including emerging L2s and appchains, and deepened integrations with major DeFi protocols for cross-chain lending and yield strategies. It also improved its fee mechanism to stay competitive. However, the broader cross-chain space remains risky—smart contract exploits and bridge hacks in the industry have kept security scrutiny high, and Stargate is not immune to such systemic risks. Overall, it remains a leading player in the cross-chain liquidity sector, though growth is tied to overall DeFi activity.
Key milestones in Stargate Finance's development include: integrating Circle's Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol (CCTP) to enhance cross-chain interoperability; expanding to the Aptos network, enabling non-EVM chain support; expanding to the Taiko network, deepening L2 ecosystem integration; TVL once surpassing $1.1 billion, demonstrating liquidity aggregation capability; and the community voting to approve the LayerZero token allocation revision, increasing the allocation ratio for veSTG holders from 20% to 25%, strengthening governance incentives. Additionally, the DVN executor malfunction exposed potential risks in cross-chain infrastructure, while the delayed V2 launch reflected a cautious approach to technical iteration. These milestones collectively outline Stargate's evolution in the cross-chain liquidity space.
