About Re
Re is a decentralized reinsurance layer that connects crypto-native capital with the trillion-dollar traditional reinsurance market. Users pool stablecoin liquidity to earn institutional-grade returns backed by real insurance premiums, while insurance companies gain access to additional capital capacity.
The market pain point is that traditional reinsurance has high entry barriers, low capital efficiency, and limited transparency. On-chain insurance alone struggles to scale risk diversification. Re addresses this by acting as infrastructure rather than a direct insurer, providing capital support to insurance carriers.
Its core competitiveness lies in being the first protocol to achieve meaningful scale in on-chain reinsurance, with real premium flow. By 2025, it underwrote over $103 million in reinsurance premiums and held approximately $396 million in total assets. It focuses on diversified lines including commercial auto, general liability, property, and workers' compensation.
In the past six months (March to September 2026): Re launched its RE governance token in June, introduced reUSDe and reUSD stablecoins, and opened the first reUSDe redemption window on July 9. It added DeFi integrations with Term Finance and Curve in July, completed a Sherlock smart contract audit, and publishes daily reserve attestations via The Network Firm on Chainlink. No major negative events were reported during this period.
Re, a decentralized reinsurance protocol built on Avalanche, completed a $14 million seed round in September 2022 with participation from Framework, Tribe Capital, and others, marking its official entry into the tokenized reinsurance space. The protocol later raised an additional $7 million in a round led by Electric Capital, reflecting sustained investor confidence in its RWA-focused approach. In a significant product milestone, Re launched its tokenized reinsurance fund on Avalanche, bringing on-chain capital to a traditionally opaque asset class. The project achieved major liquidity milestones when Binance listed RE with a seed tag and launched USDⓈ-M perpetual contracts, while Coinbase simultaneously enabled RE trading and custody services. Upbit also listed RE across KRW, BTC, and USDT trading pairs, expanding its Asian market reach. These exchange listings, combined with the earlier presale via Binance Wallet, established RE as one of the most accessible tokenized insurance assets across major global platforms, marking a transition from protocol development to broad market distribution.
