About Yei Finance

Yei Finance is a decentralized money market protocol built on the Sei blockchain, offering lending, borrowing, flash loans, cross-chain bridging, and token swaps within a single platform. Its core business revolves around isolated lending pools, where users can supply assets such as SEI, USDC, WETH, and WBTC to earn interest, or borrow against collateral with loan-to-value ratios typically between 125% and 150%. The protocol also supports liquid staking tokens (LSTs) and liquid restaking tokens (LRTs), enabling users to earn additional yield while maintaining liquidity.

The key competitive advantage of Yei Finance lies in its integration with the Sei network, which provides high-speed transaction finality (~400ms) and low gas fees, making it more efficient than many Ethereum-based competitors. Its isolated pool design mitigates systemic risk, as each market operates independently, preventing cascading liquidations across different assets. Additionally, the protocol's modular architecture allows for future cross-chain composability, positioning it as a flexible DeFi infrastructure layer.

A major market pain point Yei Finance addresses is the inefficiency of fragmented liquidity across multiple chains. By offering a unified platform with built-in bridging and swapping, users can manage their positions without leaving the interface. The protocol also solves the problem of high collateral requirements in traditional lending by providing transparent health factor indicators and algorithmic interest rates that adjust based on pool utilization.

Regarding recent developments (March 2026 to September 2026), Yei Finance experienced a significant incident in late 2025 when its fastUSD market showed abnormal behavior, leading to a temporary suspension of the protocol. This event raised concerns about the reliability of its price oracle system. However, the platform resumed operations and continued to expand its isolated pool offerings. No major updates or feature releases were publicly documented during the specified six-month period, and the protocol's activity appeared to be relatively stable but subdued compared to its earlier growth phase.

Updated: Sep 4, 2026

In December 2024, Yei Finance completed a $2 million seed round led by Manifold, cementing its position as the leading lending protocol in the Sei ecosystem. It then launched a points system, paving the way for token airdrops and economic design. In September 2025, its cross-chain liquidation and execution layer Clovis went live, with two pre-deposit rounds selling out in 90 and 30 minutes, marking its expansion from lending to an omnichain liquidity network. In October 2025, the CLO token was issued and listed on Binance Alpha, MEXC, Bitget, among others, enabling market circulation. Later, the protocol paused operations due to an anomaly in the fastUSD market; the team confirmed user funds were safe and pledged to fully repay main pool debt, a key turning point in risk management.
