About The Interfold

The Interfold is a decentralized protocol for confidential coordination. Its core offering is the Encrypted Execution Environment (E3), a cryptographic framework that allows multiple parties to jointly compute over sensitive data without ever revealing the raw inputs to any single participant, including the network itself.

In plain terms, it solves a classic dilemma: how can independent parties collaborate on data they cannot share? Traditional approaches require either trusting a central operator or relying on trusted hardware, both of which create single points of failure. Interfold replaces these with a combination of Fully Homomorphic Encryption (FHE), Multi-Party Computation (MPC), and Zero-Knowledge Proofs (ZKPs), ensuring that data remains encrypted throughout the entire computation lifecycle, and that results are verifiably correct.

The primary use cases are sealed-bid auctions, private voting, and joint analysis of sensitive datasets. For example, in a sealed-bid auction, all bids remain encrypted until the auction closes, and only the winning bid is revealed, eliminating bid-sniping and collusion. In private voting, ballots stay secret while the tally is publicly verifiable, preventing vote-buying and coercion.

Over the past six months (March 2026 to September 2026), Interfold has made significant progress. The Network Alpha mainnet launched in late 2025, and since then, the team has focused on expanding the operator set and improving network stability. In early 2026, the FOLD token went live on major exchanges, enabling community governance and staking. By mid-2026, the protocol had processed over 10,000 test computations across various industries, including finance and healthcare. The team also launched an early adopter program, partnering with three organizations to pilot private auction and voting systems. Despite a minor incident in April 2026 where a testnet bug caused temporary network latency, no funds were lost and the issue was resolved within 48 hours. The project continues to operate without any major security breaches or controversies.

The Interfold's key milestones include the FOLD token auction launched on July 8, 2025, via a Continuous Clearing Auction (CCA) on Uniswap, which raised 523.94 ETH against a 400 ETH target. This marked the first public distribution of FOLD, representing 10% of total supply. A 40-day cooldown period followed, restricting transfers except for ciphernode bonding. Network Alpha, the first production stage, launched with a deliberately bounded configuration of up to 19 ciphernodes and a threshold of 9, emphasizing decentralized key generation and threshold decryption. Governance was introduced through the Interfold DAO, allowing FOLD holders to lock tokens for voting weight, with confidential, receipt-free voting via the Interfold-Aragon integration. The roadmap progresses from auction to cooldown, Network Alpha, and eventual public ciphernode participation, with the protocol designed for verifiable outcomes from private inputs without custody or exposure.

Bullish: Vitalik publicly endorsed the MACI approach in May; TGE and Network Alpha mainnet launch on Aug 19; listed on Upbit, Kraken, and Bithumb, with price briefly hitting $0.1754; two CCA auctions priced around $0.022, giving early participants over 4x paper returns.

Bearish: From Sep 1, monthly linear unlocks of ~21.63M FOLD (~6.6% of circulating supply, ~$2.08M); network is still early-stage with 19-node cap, permissioned operators, and DKG taking hours; only governance app so far, further catalysts unverified.
