About Spacecoin
Spacecoin is a decentralized satellite internet project that combines blockchain with low-Earth-orbit nanosatellite constellations to build a physical infrastructure network. Its goal is to bring internet access to the 2.9 billion unconnected people worldwide, while breaking the dominance of a few operators in traditional satellite networks.
Its core competitiveness lies in physical decentralization combined with blockchain. Spacecoin has released two key components: SOLAR and Lumen. SOLAR is a communication routing protocol that lets users specify which satellites and ground stations their data passes through, rather than having a single operator decide. Lumen is a billing and settlement layer that verifies usage by cross-checking independently signed traffic records from multiple operators, compressing the results with zero-knowledge proofs, and finalizing settlements on the Creditcoin blockchain. This allows multiple independent parties to form an open network, where no single entity can control data paths or arbitrarily charge fees.
The pain point of traditional satellite internet is centralization: operators control both routing and billing, users cannot choose data paths, and risks include surveillance, censorship, or service outages. In regions with poor banking infrastructure, payment is also difficult. Spacecoin enables cryptocurrency payments and uses blockchain for transparent settlement, so remote areas can gain low-cost access.
In the past six months, Spacecoin published the technical architecture of SOLAR and Lumen on September 2, 2026, clarifying its decentralized routing and billing mechanisms. On September 4, it announced a partnership with Berlin-based Decen Space to increase satellite communication opportunities through its distributed ground station network, strengthening the ground connectivity needed for real-world services.
Tae Oh (legal name: Tae Lim Oh) is the founder and core leader of Spacecoin. He is also CEO of Gluwa and founder of Creditcoin, driving the DePIN ecosystem that merges decentralized finance with satellite communications. Tae graduated from Carnegie Mellon University in computational biology. He previously worked at Google Developers (Korea) and SOLiD, bringing engineering and open-source community experience. In 2022, he founded Space Network to advance Spacecoin's satellite internet infrastructure.
