About Pearl
Positive: 1. Mainnet launched on Apr 27, with PoUW enabling GPU mining while supporting AI workloads. 2. A wallet allegedly linked to a16z accumulated $1.5M PRL on May 27, sparking a 150% price surge in two days. 3. Partnership with Together AI launched a discounted inference endpoint, with mining emissions subsidizing costs.
Negative: 1. PoUW only supports integer matrix multiplication, incompatible with low-precision floating-point AI training, limiting real utility. 2. High mining costs: official rental packages yield PRL at $1.33–1.77, near market price, squeezing margins. 3. Early-stage volatility and thin liquidity amplify dump risk.
Omri Weinstein (Co-founder & CEO)
Omri Weinstein is an Israeli-American theoretical computer scientist and entrepreneur. He earned his B.Sc. in Mathematics and Computer Science from Tel Aviv University (2006–2009) and his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Princeton University, advised by Mark Braverman. He was a Simons Society Junior Fellow at NYU's Courant Institute, then an Assistant Professor at Columbia University, and is currently an Associate Professor (on leave) at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. His research covers data structures, information theory, and computational complexity. Before founding Pearl Research Labs in 2025, he worked at Nvidia and Vast Data. He is the co-founder and CEO of Pearl Research Labs, which develops the Pearl (PRL) blockchain using Proof-of-Useful-Work (PoUW).
