About Genius
Genius, an on-chain trading terminal built by Shuttle Labs, was founded in 2022 by Yale alumni and raised $7M in 2024 (led by CMCC Global).
In April 2025, YZi Labs (Binance co-founders' family office) invested tens of millions of dollars, with CZ joining as an advisor, marking a major endorsement for the project's ambition to become an "on-chain alternative to Binance."
Since its soft launch in October 2024, Genius processed over $60M in volume, focusing on whale users. Its core innovation includes a privacy layer (splitting orders across hundreds of wallets) and the USDgg yield-bearing stablecoin.
In April 2026, Binance launched the GENIUS HODLer airdrop, though the claim was delayed twice. When claims opened, team and investor tokens were locked for at least 1 year, and users faced a choice: claim 30% immediately or wait 1 year for 100%. This sparked community backlash, leading to a refund option.
Galaxy Digital projected the GENIUS stablecoin could bring up to $12 trillion in U.S. credit expansion by 2030, highlighting its long-term financial narrative. Bitget and Aster listed GENIUS spot and perpetual contracts, while the token surged over 850% with a market cap exceeding $820M.
Positive: On April 14, the airdrop claim opened and the whitepaper/roadmap was released, with team and investor tokens locked for at least one year; the roadmap includes Ghost Mode privacy layer (opened to first 50 testers on April 29), GeniusFi (PropAMM) challenging PancakeSwap spot volume, BNB binary options, etc. After the airdrop, GENIUS surged up to 850% and FDV exceeded $820M; Season 1 airdrop of 70M tokens burns 70% if claimed immediately, reducing circulating supply.
Negative: Airdrop rules changed near TGE, sparking strong community backlash and being called "expectation manipulation"; the 70% burn sharply raised actual costs. On-chain liquidity pool is only ~$500K, low relative to high FDV, and high-leverage GENIUS perpetuals may amplify volatility; price fell after the airdrop controversy.
