About Cronos Network
Cronos, an EVM-compatible chain developed by Crypto.org, launched its mainnet on November 8, 2021, aiming to scale DeFi by enabling rapid porting of dApps from Ethereum and other EVM chains. In August 2024, Cronos zkEVM mainnet went live, powered by ZKsync technology and using zkCRO as the gas token, marking a major step toward Layer-2 scalability. Key milestones with long-term impact include the integration with Google Cloud as a cloud provider, the listing of CRO as collateral on Upbit, and the launch of a Cronos ETP by 21Shares, expanding institutional access. Additionally, a governance proposal to restore 70 billion burned CRO tokens was approved in March 2025, significantly altering the tokenomics.
