About Band Protocol
Band Protocol is a cross-chain data oracle platform built on Cosmos SDK. Its core business involves validators aggregating off-chain data onto BandChain, then routing it to destination chains via IBC or TSS, enabling smart contracts on 40+ chains to access price feeds and AI-related data. The v3 mainnet upgrade (July 2025) cut block time from 6 seconds to 1 second and increased symbol capacity 10x, while introducing Signaling Hub for community-driven feed selection and Concurrent Price Stream for high-frequency data. The brand repositioned as "AI + Web3 unified data layer" in August 2025, with the Membit product providing real-time social data context for LLMs.
Core competitiveness lies in the v3 technical upgrade, native Cosmos IBC integration, and the AI narrative pivot. However, market pain points are significant: BAND token value capture is weak—staking rewards come from 7-20% annual inflation rather than external protocol fees, and usage metrics (monthly requests, paying customers, fee revenue) lack transparent public reporting.
