STBL

STBL is a stablecoin yield protocol built on a dual-token architecture. Its core business revolves around issuing USST, an over-collateralized stablecoin backed by tokenized real-world assets such as US Treasury bills and money market funds, while YLD, a non-fungible token, represents the yield claim on the underlying collateral. This design separates principal from yield, allowing users to hold a liquid dollar-denominated asset while directing the collateral's interest to YLD holders.

The market pain point STBL addresses is the traditional stablecoin model where issuers retain reserve yields. By splitting the stablecoin and the yield-bearing right, STBL gives users direct access to the yield generated by the collateral. Additionally, instead of relying on fixed-price redemption by the issuer, STBL uses an algorithmic fee adjustment mechanism based on market price feeds, with arbitrageurs expected to keep the peg stable.

In the past six months (2026-03-07 to 2026-09-07), STBL has focused on transitioning from infrastructure to application. According to its Q1 2026 roadmap, USST was deployed on mainnet in January, with Hypernative integrated to automate the peg mechanism and DeFi lending features launched. Liquidity injection and RWA collateral expansion were planned for February, with ESS (Ecosystem-Specific Stablecoin) structures deployed on testnet. March was set to expand native USST minting to other high-performance chains like Solana and Stellar, along with a simplified STBL DApp interface.

Regarding negative events within two years, USST experienced a depeg on October 10, 2025, dropping to $0.96 within hours of its Curve launch. Separately, blockchain analytics firm Bubblemaps alleged insider wallets had dumped STBL tokens, but later clarified these wallets were not linked to the team, and the founder denied the allegation.
