About SKALE
SKALE is an Ethereum-native modular blockchain network designed for high-performance dApps. Its core business is providing developers with configurable AppChains that offer zero gas fees, high throughput, and horizontal scalability. The main value proposition is its unique multichain architecture, where each dApp runs on its own dedicated chain, eliminating network congestion and gas costs entirely. This, combined with BITE (Blockchain-in-the-Ether) for private execution environments and the x402 protocol for agentic payments, positions SKALE as an infrastructure layer for AI agents, gaming, and DeFi applications.
Market pain points addressed include prohibitive gas fees on Ethereum, performance bottlenecks on monolithic Layer-1s, and centralization risks in many Layer-2 solutions. SKALE solves these by offering gasless transactions, sub-second finality, and a decentralized validator network with hundreds of independent operators. It also enables private computations for sensitive operations, which is critical for enterprise and AI use cases.
In the past six months (2026-02-28 to 2026-08-29), SKALE launched SKALE Expand v1, connecting its network to Base and enabling cross-chain interoperability. The network continued to process billions of transactions with zero gas fees, and its validator set remained highly decentralized. However, the SKL token experienced a price decline, reaching historical lows during this period, reflecting broader market conditions. Despite this, network usage and developer activity remained stable, with a focus on AI agent infrastructure and privacy-preserving applications.
As a modular blockchain network native to Ethereum, SKALE has several key milestones in its development. In June 2020, the SKALE mainnet officially launched, marking the network's entry into actual operation. Subsequently, the network gradually improved its consensus mechanism and node system.
In 2025, SKALE introduced the V4 upgrade, a significant long-term technical milestone. V4 introduced the BITE protocol (Blockchain Integrated Threshold Encryption) to prevent MEV attacks and provide transaction privacy. Additionally, V4 reduced block sync time to 0.3 seconds and increased network TPS to 39,200, significantly enhancing performance.
Furthermore, SKALE launched the Expand initiative, allowing the SKALE Manager to be deployed into any EVM ecosystem, with the first deployment being SKALE on Base. This laid the foundation for the network's multi-chain expansion.
These milestones represent SKALE's development path from mainnet launch to technical upgrades and ecosystem expansion.
