About Renzo Finance
Renzo Protocol is a liquid restaking protocol built on EigenLayer, serving as an intermediary between users and EigenLayer's AVS (Actively Validated Services) ecosystem. Users deposit ETH or LSTs (like stETH or wETH), and Renzo automatically handles node operator selection, validator management, and reward claiming. In return, users receive ezETH, a liquid restaking token that can be used in DeFi while still earning restaking rewards.
Its core value proposition is simplifying the complex restaking process. Native EigenLayer restaking requires users to run or delegate to operators, manage multiple AVS risk profiles, and lock funds without liquidity. Renzo abstracts this by offering a one-click deposit, auto-compounding yields, and maintaining liquidity through ezETH. The protocol also supports multiple chains (Ethereum, Arbitrum, Base, etc.) and integrates with major DeFi protocols.
Market pain points addressed: (1) High technical barrier for restaking, (2) Illiquidity of restaked assets, (3) Manual operator selection and risk management, (4) Complex reward claiming and compounding. Renzo solves these by providing a user-friendly interface, liquid tokens, professional node management, and automated reward distribution.
In the past six months (2026-03 to 2026-09), Renzo expanded its multi-chain presence, launched ezREZ governance token, and introduced Season 2 campaign (ending July 26) distributing additional token rewards. It also enabled permissionless ERC-20 token support for AVS restaking. However, in 2024, Renzo experienced a smart contract vulnerability that affected approximately 1,600 ETH, which was later resolved. The protocol continues to face competition from other liquid restaking platforms like Puffer and KelpDAO.
Renzo Protocol completed the first EigenLayer restaking reward distribution, marking the protocol's entry into the revenue realization phase.
Its governance token REZ expanded to the Solana ecosystem via Wormhole, enhancing cross-chain interoperability.
The protocol adopted an Ethereum reserve strategy, holding approximately 1050 ETH, and opened the third season airdrop claim, distributing 4% of REZ to over 80,000 addresses.
