About Kinetiq
Kinetiq is a liquid staking protocol on Hyperliquid. Users stake HYPE to receive kHYPE, a liquid staking token that remains usable in DeFi, solving the liquidity lock-up problem of traditional staking.
Its core narrative is a "value-add L2" and "exchange factory." In early 2026, Kinetiq launched Elysium, an L2 network using HYPE as gas, with higher performance than HyperEVM and enhanced L1Read interoperability. The Launch platform allows anyone to deploy a customized DEX by raising 500,000 HYPE in staking, with flagship product Markets already offering perpetual contracts on traditional assets like BABA and crude oil.
Market pain points include HyperEVM performance bottlenecks, the difficulty of sustaining meme token热度, and the separation between spot and perpetual trading paths. Elysium aims to attract high-frequency trading and PropAMM applications, routing new on-chain activity back to HyperCore.
In the past six months, Kinetiq's TVL grew from approximately $700 million to $1.2 billion. Key developments include the Elysium L2 announcement, the Markets launch, and the Launch platform rollout. However, oracle risk remains a concern given its focus on traditional assets, and liquidity fragmentation across HIP-3 exchanges is an ongoing challenge.
Kinetiq was founded in late 2024, raising $1.75M in seed funding from Hyperliquid ecosystem investors. Its mainnet launched on July 15, 2025, introducing kHYPE as a liquid staking token with StakeHub auto-delegation. On July 31, 2025, Kinetiq announced Launch, an exchange-as-a-service platform leveraging HIP-3 to lower entry barriers for building perp DEXs via crowdfunded staking pools. On November 27, 2025, KNTQ TGE took place with a fixed supply of 1 billion and an initial circulation of 29%, including a 25% airdrop (24% to kPoints holders, 1% to Hypurr NFT holders), formalizing protocol governance. These milestones mark its evolution from a liquid staking protocol into a broader DeFi infrastructure layer on Hyperliquid.
Positive: On August 24, 2026, Kinetiq announced Elysium, a high-performance L2 for Hyperliquid, using HYPE as gas, with 50% of sequencer fees used to buy back and burn KNTQ; KNTQ surged over 30% on the news. Since April 9, 2026, kHYPE staking rewards were adjusted to give the protocol a 10% performance fee, 70% of which is used for KNTQ buybacks, enhancing token value capture.
Negative: kHYPE circulating supply continued to decline, down 62% by May 31, 2026 from the August 2025 peak; protocol TVL fell from ~$2.07B in Q4 2025 to ~$1B. Approximately 31% of token supply held by investors and core contributors will unlock over coming years, creating dilution pressure.
