About Enzyme
Enzyme is a decentralized on-chain asset management protocol that allows users to create, manage, and invest in crypto funds (called "vaults") entirely through smart contracts. Its core business is providing a non-custodial, transparent infrastructure where fund managers can set rules for deposits, trading, and fees, while investors gain exposure through vault shares.
The key competitive advantage is its composability and openness: vaults can directly interact with major DeFi protocols (Uniswap, Aave, Yearn, etc.) without leaving the platform, and all operations are publicly auditable on-chain. This replaces traditional fund administration with self-executing code, reducing counterparty risk and operational overhead.
The main market pain point Enzyme addresses is the lack of transparent, low-cost, and accessible fund management tools in crypto. Traditional funds are opaque, expensive, and require intermediaries; Enzyme removes these layers, enabling anyone to launch or join a strategy with full visibility.
In the past six months (2026-03 to 2026-09), Enzyme has focused on expanding its protocol integrations and improving gas efficiency. Notable updates include support for additional DeFi protocols (e.g., Morpho, Swell) and enhanced fee optimization mechanisms. The team also partnered with Renesis.fi to extend tokenized fund infrastructure, aiming to streamline portfolio management and investor reporting for liquid funds. However, the project faced a security incident in 2025 where a vulnerability in a third-party adapter was exploited, leading to temporary fund freezes; this was resolved without permanent loss, but highlighted risks in complex integrations.
