About Digital Asset

Digital Asset is the creator of Canton Network, a blockchain protocol designed specifically for institutional finance. Unlike public chains where all data is visible to everyone, Canton allows transaction details to be shared only with authorized counterparties and regulators, while keeping commercial data private from other network participants. This 'privacy-preserving synchronization' model is its core value proposition.

The main market pain point it addresses is the inefficiency and opacity of traditional financial settlement systems. Cross-border securities transactions often take days to settle, involve multiple intermediaries, and lack transparency. Meanwhile, public blockchains expose sensitive trade data, which violates bank secrecy laws and institutional confidentiality requirements. Canton solves this by enabling real-time settlement on a shared infrastructure without compromising data privacy.

In the past six months, Digital Asset has made significant progress. The company announced a partnership with DTCC to explore tokenization of US Treasury securities held in DTC custody. It also revealed new collaborations with major financial institutions including BNY, iCapital, Nasdaq, and S&P Global to pilot various use cases on Canton. Additionally, Shinhan Bank and SC Ventures joined the network as participants, expanding its presence in Asian markets. Grayscale filed with the SEC to launch a spot ETF for Canton's native token, indicating growing institutional interest. The network now has over 700 ecosystem participants, with active pilots across securities tokenization, collateral management, and cross-border payments.

Digital Asset has accelerated positioning Canton Network as on-chain infrastructure for capital markets over the past six months. In June it closed a $355 million funding round led by a16z crypto, with participation from HSBC, BNP Paribas, Citadel Securities, CME Ventures, Coinbase Ventures and others, to expand the Canton ecosystem, deepen developer and institutional access, and support network growth. Officially stated focus areas include asset tokenization, collateral mobility, settlement, payments, and regulated workflows. DA Registry has evolved into a tokenization launchpad supporting 35+ platform providers/issuers, with Canton processing over 1.5 million daily transactions. It launched a PoC with Mitsubishi UFJ Trust & Banking and Progmat for on-chain JGB repo transactions, with Secured Finance providing the lending protocol for full lifecycle on-chain execution. Partnering with BOOSTRY, it will launch a multi-chain corporate wallet service by end-2026. The company also expanded its oversubscribed fundraise with strategic investments from Shinhan Financial Group and Standard Chartered.
