About Clique
Clique is an end-to-end token operating system that focuses on identity oracles, bridging Web2 user behavior data with Web3 applications. Its core business involves a browser extension that allows users to securely prove private information, such as social media stats or API credentials, using advanced cryptography like zero-knowledge proofs, trusted execution environments, and multi-party computation. This addresses the market pain point of blockchain’s lack of credible user identity and reputation systems, which often leads to Sybil attacks and limited application design. By enabling verifiable off-chain data to be used on-chain, Clique helps protocols conduct better user screening, distribute targeted incentives, and build reputation systems. In the past six months (2026-02-28 to 2026-08-31), Clique has focused on expanding its integrations with layer-1 and layer-2 networks, enhancing its browser extension’s functionality, and fostering developer adoption. However, no major negative events have been reported in this period, though the project faces general challenges in privacy-preserving data verification and user adoption. Overall, Clique aims to make identity verification more private and decentralized, reducing reliance on centralized data intermediaries.
Clique began with a $3 million seed round backed by GGV Capital, Qiming Venture Partners, and others, establishing its vision as an identity oracle connecting Web2 and Web3. Its first product, a social oracle, provided on-chain analysis of off-chain user influence and loyalty, enabling applications like airdrops and SBT issuance. The team then developed a privacy-preserving pipeline using MPC, TEE, and ZKP to ensure data confidentiality and provenance. A significant milestone was the deployment on Ronin Network, launching a gaming identity layer where users could mint soul-bound tokens from their Steam data, expanding into reputation-weighted governance. Later, an $8 million funding round led by Polychain Capital further validated its approach. Throughout, Clique evolved from a social oracle into an end-to-end token operating system, with products like Provenance for data insights and SDKs for developers, while actively building general-purpose action trigger contracts to execute smart contract logic based on off-chain behaviors.
On September 1, 2026, Clique met with the SEC Crypto Task Force and C Guidry Law to discuss a token listing due diligence framework. The framework leverages public blockchain data (e.g., token ownership concentration, wallet relationships, distribution patterns, participant activity) as supplementary evidence to existing issuer disclosures and review processes, rather than a replacement. It incorporates confidence levels and false-positive considerations to address wallet attribution challenges.
Regarding future focus, Clique continues to advance its identity oracle infrastructure, utilizing ZKP, TEE, and MPC to connect Web2 user behavior data on-chain. Products like Attestor (for Sybil resistance and reputation systems) and Provenance (for community data insights) remain core. Future plans include general-purpose action trigger contracts, enabling arbitrary smart contract logic execution based on off-chain user behaviors. Collaborations with Chainlink on DECO and TLS Notary integrations are still being explored.
