About Aavegotchi
Aavegotchi is an on-chain pet and DeFi game where each Aavegotchi NFT is backed by interest-bearing collateral and can wear equipment, compete in rarity mining and hold parcels in the Gotchiverse; the project migrated from Polygon to Base in July 2025, with games including Gotchi Guardians on Steam and Rektless. It targets NFTs that lack intrinsic value support and ongoing sinks by binding collateral yield directly into the NFT, giving avatar assets a calculable floor. Technically an ERC-721 plus aToken collateral forms the spirit force, GHST handles pricing and governance, and there are the Baazaar marketplace, wearables and Forge crafting, and a DAO treasury with on-chain voting.
Partial treasury distribution claims opened on 7 January 2026, Agents support on 23 February and Rektless Mobile on 12 March; on 20 May Pixelcraft announced its exit from a single-studio model, handing IP, trademarks, domains, social accounts and GitHub to the DAO between 1 June and 1 September. Pixelcraft also acknowledged it could not turn the previous DAO funding into a sustainable model, with monthly spending near USD 300,000, and that Gotchi Guardians, DeFi Dungeon and Gotchiverse 3D are no longer treated as products in development. Binance delisted GHST spot and settled its contracts on 13 February 2026.
Setback: Pixelcraft Studios opened a handover window from 1 June to 1 September, stepping back as default lead studio. It said its burn was about $300K a month, cut to roughly $200K after Geist L3 was terminated, with limited runway left. Gotchi Guardians, DeFi Dungeon and Gotchiverse 3D are no longer assumed to be in development.
Holder rights: GHST staking went live on Base on 29 May with 1v1 duels in Spirit Force Arena, and Gotchi Battler ran three 100K GHST tournaments. Transfer of IP and trademarks needs a DAO vote, with about $4,000 in legal costs.
Aavegotchi opened claiming for a partial treasury distribution on January 7, 2026, added Agents support on February 23, shipped the mobile game Rektless on March 12, and said on May 20 that it is moving beyond a single-studio model by sharing ecosystem stewardship with multiple studios and the DAO. Rarity Farming Season 11 continues on Base, with the DAO having approved 3 million GHST across two seasons; Gotchi Battler entered the close of its beta on March 30 with three 100,000 GHST tournaments.
The 2026 Aavegotchi focus shifted to mobile-first, on-chain-native smaller games: DeFi Dungeon is in live iteration, and Rektless is set to add four Alchemica-themed courses and a Base-themed map.
Aavegotchi's Future strategy and roadmap: Officially, the team plans to bring classic open-source titles such as Gotchi Miner back online, ship AI agent and MCP tooling to lower the builder barrier, and explore new GHST uses in in-game spending, staking and staker perks. Gotchi Guardians stays live on Steam but will not receive major content updates in 2026.
