About AEON
AEON is a crypto payment settlement layer for merchants, turning onchain transfers into a receivable and settlement flow that cross-border e-commerce, physical stores and apps inside the Telegram ecosystem can use directly. The problem it targets: crypto can be transferred but is hard for merchants to accept like a card payment, while acquiring, reconciliation and fiat off-ramp are handled separately.
The mechanism is a unified checkout interface across chains and currencies; merchants see only orders and settlement amounts while confirmation, FX and fees happen behind it, and developers integrate through payment APIs and callbacks. The value of such a layer depends on merchant density rather than technology, publicly verifiable scale is still limited, and revenue comes mainly from settlement fees.
AEON's journey began in May 2025 with the launch of its AI payment protocol, followed by becoming an official partner of Coinbase's x402 protocol in August. In October, it natively deployed the x402 Stack on BNB Chain, establishing itself as a recognized agent payment infrastructure provider. A pivotal moment came in May 2026 with an $8 million pre-seed round led by YZi Labs, validating its vision. In July 2026, AEON completed its Token Generation Event, listing on major exchanges including Binance Alpha, Bitget, OKX, and Bithumb, significantly expanding its reach. By late July, AEON surpassed 2.3 million users with cumulative transaction volume exceeding $475 million, demonstrating real-world adoption. Its expansion into emerging markets—integrating mobile wallets in Egypt, Zambia, Bolivia, and Bangladesh—highlights its strategy of bridging on-chain payments with local fiat rails. Looking ahead, AEON's roadmap includes Node Network V2 for execution verification, expansion into Singapore, India, and Argentina, and the development of a KYA credit graph for autonomous agent finance by 2028.
Listings and funding: Binance Alpha debuted AEON on July 27 with trading from 10:00 UTC and 250 tokens claimable at 245 points or more; OKX opened AEON/USDT spot at 11:00 UTC the same day. An $8 million pre-seed led by YZi Labs closed in May.
Progress: Agentic Checkout launched on September 4, using a Visa and Mastercard-backed AI card so agents can order on Shopify and Amazon; JST and NFT payments were added on August 28. The team reports 5.7 million transactions, $263 million of payment volume and 1.81 million users.
AEON closed an $8 million pre-seed round on May 18, 2026, led by YZi Labs with participation from HashKey Capital and IDG Capital, and launched its first AI payment product connecting AI agents to a merchant network spanning more than 50 million merchants worldwide. Throughout 2026, AEON Pay added multiple assets and chains: $AB and AB-USD1 (AB DAO) in February, $ULTIMA (Ultima) and $ADI (ADI Chain) in March, USDT0 via Conflux in June, and APEX plus Colombia's Bre-B local rail in August. AEON's token began public trading in July, and in September it launched Agentic Checkout, letting AI agents autonomously place and pay for orders on Shopify and Amazon through Visa / Mastercard-backed AEON AI Cards. Its published technical roadmap runs in three phases: Phase 1 (network live) is complete; Phase 2 (H2 2026 to H2 2027) launches Node Network V1 for distributed verification, upgrades cross-chain payments from payment verification to execution verification, and scales real-world merchant coverage to 50 million terminals; Phase 3 (2028+) introduces a KYA (Know Your Agent) credit system and AI-to-AI DeFi services.
